They're alive
Wilden Dawn is an evolution simulation running 24/7. Nothing is scripted or predefined. Life evolves whether you're watching or not. Every animal and plant is a unique individual with its own genetics, its own survival strategy, its own story.
No species is predefined
Each organism has a unique chemical composition, elements like oxygen, carbon, iron, sulfur, and calcium. These compositions determine everything: energy needs, diet, compatible mates, and which species they belong to. Nothing is hard-coded. Everything emerges.
Species form naturally
Organisms with similar genetics cluster into species automatically. As mutations accumulate across generations, populations diverge. What started as one species becomes several, each adapted to their own survival strategy. Species constantly shift, split, and sometimes go extinct.
Evolution never stops
While you play or while you're away, evolution continues. Beneficial traits spread. Unsuccessful lineages die out. You might return to find your species thriving and dominant, or gone entirely. Outcompeted by something new.
Energy flows in a cycle
Elements in the soil feed plants. Animals feed on plants and on each other. When anything dies, its chemical composition returns to the soil. Energy constantly transforms but never disappears. Populations rise when resources are abundant and crash when they grow scarce.
Follow any life
Track any individual animal in the world. Watch them hunt, flee, reproduce, and die. Switch between animals freely. Leave and come back days later to find descendants of the animals you followed, or discover your entire species has gone extinct.
Soon you'll control them
Direct control is coming. Pick any animal and move where you want. Choose what to eat. Fight or flee. Find a mate. Become a leader of your pack. Your actions will subtly shape your species' future. Your choices ripple through generations as evolution responds to how you play.
